(Revised May 2013) Holy Spirit family practical vs virtual practical

broken-familyNotes added in May 2013:

The following post in January 2011 was based on a narration by a believer. Please beware that you need to be led by the Lord yourself. The Holy Spirit cannot be limited to one example. The safe place to start your practical is always to stay in the Lord’s presence through daily reading and meditating big chunks of His words. The Bible does not change. Human changes. The minute we turn to the world and the things of the world, we turn our eyes away from the Lord Jesus Christ. That is where the thorns and thistles will be and choke the plants that God has originally planted in us.

Last night the watchman prayed for the salvation of Christian children of the world (who have been captivated by digital world and its gadgets). He was led prophetically by faith to pray that they (and their parents) will be given the desire and pleasure to hold a Bible (in paper and printed and bound one) in their hands and turn the pages and have the feel of actual God’s words in their hands.

Why? He has heard gross misinterpretation of God’s words by missing the context of the word of God when one no longer is accustomed to using the Book in its printed form on paper. He has encountered the same pitfall in trying to read from a hand-held digital gadget. There is no way he could read and glance at the whole context at one glance over the digital screen! (The context is not restricted to a few lines above and below the particular phrase that you read. Often it means the whole chapter and many chapters before and after! It also often links to other books in the Bible. Holy Spirit practical is tied to the words of God through out the Bible, not just one segment of the Bible).

In his experience he witnessed the exposure to electronic screen (and the activities therein) resulted mind and attention and learning damages done to some ordinarily ‘normal’ children and even aggravated the conditions of some children with ‘tendencies’ for hyperactivity and attention deficit etc. The increase use of such instantly gratifying modes of occupation of one’s time, has developed a generation who cannot or become reluctant to connect to their family more in depth which normally would require concentration of efforts and even ‘sacrifice’ of self-centered time.
He also noted how miraculous the situation could turn around when family members sat together and read the Bible. What can be better than to have Christ as our wisdom? What more can we ask when we have the mind of Christ? A calmness and even serene and wise look appeared when a former ADHD child was led to read the Bible initially word by word until he was able to read paragraphs by himself. Daily prayer and reading of the words of God means allowing the presence of the Holy Spirit to work within the child’s mind and emotion. This is the Holy Spirit practical that family must undertake daily!

Be Holy Spirit practical instead of being virtual practical!

_____________Here is the original version of the post. It is rather outdated by may 2013. However it does record how one believer went through the person’s own spiritual practical journey.

One important the watchman has learned about the Holy Spirit is that practice in hearing the Holy Spirit is essential for all believers. How to hear the Holy Spirit? This is a question with unlimited answers. Each week he has asked a different member to give a testimony to his class on how the individual hears the Holy Spirit. Based on their sharing he has noted the rich varieties of experiences each individual has encountered in their journey in the Holy Spirit.

For example, in one case the believer shared that he started by reading the Bible and related books hungrily after he was born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit. Then he started manifesting one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, prophecy. He took the courage and gave the word of prophecy faithfully and received more as he obeyed the Lord.  He spent much time before the Lord and praying in the Spirit. He also took part in the worship ministry.

Over years of persistent walking in the Holy Spirit and storing the Word in his heart, he was led by the Lord to do prayer drive and other related spiritual warfare ministry. One day as he was in his usual kneeling position before the Lord, praying, he heard one unusual word very clearly. He prayed with that word. The next day the whole country and a neighboring country had a major power failure which lasted seven days! He subsequently found out that the strange word given by the Holy Spirit was the name of the strongman of the land.

A number of the verses from the Lord aptly describe his spiritual encounter:

Mark 4:24-25

24 Then He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. 25 For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”

Matthew 25:29

29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.

Acts 5:32

32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

John 14:15-18

Jesus Promises Another Helper

15 “If you love Me, keep[a] My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

  1. Reblogged this on AAA Jack's blog (A Watchman on your walls) and commented:

Holy Spirit practical (Biblical led) is far better than be virtual practical. Read the updated notes in May 2013 by the watchman. Return to the old way when parents and children read their paper bible together, gathered around the family table daily after dinner!
