This watchman was led to read a few chapter 29s in the Bible and found some significant messages in them. here is a brief summary of his notes.

Genesis 29 recorded how Laban deceived Jacob by giving him Leah as wife instead of Rachel for whom Jacob had worked and served Laban seven years.

Deuteronomy 29 warned of God’s people turning away to follow other gods of the nations which land they would take over. God would not spare them from the curses written in this book.

Isaiah 29 pronounced woe to he people who draw near to God with their mouths and honor Him with their lips but have removed their hearts far from God.

Jeremiah 29 warned of the deceits of ‘prophets’ and diviners  and also one’s own dreams (not from God); those who did not heed  the words of God through the true prophets, would be sent the sword, the famine, the pestilence, and be like rotten figs, a curse…

Ezekiel 29 pronounced God’s judgment and prophesy against Pharaoh king of Egypt (principality of the evil spiritual realm).

Is there any good news? Yes.

in genesis 29, the unloved first wife, Leah gave birth to several sons. At the end of the chapter she named her fourth son, Judah, Praise (God). Here was a simple woman who knew God. Her joy was in the Lord and His grace (undeserved favor) for her. She became the mother of priests (Levites) and kings (Judah) ! In the end she was the wife of Jacob who was buried with her husband, with the rest of the famous chosen family, starting from their ancestors, Abraham and Sarah.

In the last verse in Deuteronomy 29:29, Moses prophesied the good news about knowing God: “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”

Isaiah 29 bears this good news: ” 18 In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book,
And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.
19 The humble also shall increase their joy in the Lord,
And the poor among men shall rejoice In the Holy One of Israel.”

God promised in Jeremiah 29: ” 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.”

lastly, in Ezekiel 29, God promised to gather the scattered Egyptians back after their forty years of exile. “Then they shall know that I am the Lord God.”
