The name of Jesus, “Emmanuel”, means God with us. Walking with Jesus in us means we are not walking alone. Not by our might, nor by our own power, but by God’s Spirit. The Spirit of Christ in us-the same power that raised Him from the dead now gives life to our mortal body. We walk by faith. The just shall live by faith, not by sight. We do not see the unseen spiritual God but we believe in His reality in the spiritual realm and in us.
Do we need to fear the unknown? No. Because God’s perfect love casts out all fears. He (the Holy Spirit) who is in us is greater than he (the evil spirit) who is outside. How do we know we have the Holy Spirit in us?
The Scripture tells us:
First, having the Spirit of Christ is a prerequisite for every believer of Jesus. God only wants worship from spiritually born again believers. Because God is Spirit. God gives every believer His Spirit so we may be one spirit with Him and communicate with Him. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth and He dwells in us who believe in Jesus. He will teach us all things even the future. How do we receive this salvation gift from God? Repent and receive by faith.
Not only having the Holy Spirit in us to prove that we are God’s children, who may cry out to God, “Abba Father”, God gives us the baptism of the Holy Spirit so we may have the power of God to testify for Jesus in the whole world. The Holy Spirit witnesses for Jesus.
There is a significant difference in the lives of those with the Holy Spirit: they do not walk by flesh any longer. Their focus is on God, the matters of God, who is Spirit. Their thoughts are different. They can break away from the self-limited focus and look at the world with the view from God. They can perceive the big picture. Their prayers will be different as they follow the Holy Spirit to make intercession for other believers according to the will of God. They read the words of God differently as they are led by the Spirit of Christ Himself. The words in the Bible become life and spirit to them just as Jesus has said.
