Worship and praise forevermore

At this late hour it may be a bit late for some Christians to learn to worship and praise God in spirit and in truth, just as the Lord Jesus has said God wants us to do.

This watchman used to think that way. However, after being filled with the Holy Spirit , this foremost ministry to God for each individual has come supernaturally. In the presence of the Lord , praise and sing in the spirit is effortless.

Often the songs come and flow like the gentle breeze or the flowing stream. Sometimes they become rapid and powerful like strong wind blowing or the urgent marching of footsteps.

Words from the Bible come too. Sometimes in the midst of worship. Sometimes at the end of it. Often they appear in the songs sung in the spirit.

Songs are interspersed with prayers as the Holy Spirit leads.

Worship in spirit is indeed a full time lifestyle. The New Creation lifestyle. A heavenly citizen lifestyle.

The book of Revelation clearly shows this. Worshiping the everlasting God is a forevermore lifestyle.

today’s verses for those in love

2 Corinthians 5:16-17

16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

1 John 4:18

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

1 John 3:1-3

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

1 Peter 3:7-9

A Word to Husbands

Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

Called to Blessing

Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

Hebrews 13:4-6

Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say:

“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”

1 Corinthians 6:16-20

16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Journey to see God: what Jesus used His power and authority for

Jesus heals
Jesus heals

We have read how Jesus used His power and authority to preach the gospel to the poor, heal the sick and cast out demons. We have not previously discussed how He did not use His power and authority. So here are some of the objects/actions on which He did not use His power and authority.

  1. He did not use them on producing food and other material stuff for Himself.
  2. He did not use them to destroy His earthly opponents.
  3. He did not use them to steal, kill and destroy human.
  4. He did not show off His superior position as the Son of God, by using them.
  5. He did not use them to gain prestigious political, economic, social or religious position, honor, status or popularity.
  6. He did not use them to avoid the tortuous, cruel and painful (body, soul and spirit) death on the cross in a human form.
  7. He did not use them to reduce His mission time on earth and expedite the whole crucifixion atonement process.

Jesus corrected and reprimanded His disciples when they misunderstood the use of authority and power. He spoke very stern words to John and James such as, “What manner of spirit are you?” He even commanded Satan directly to get off when he reprimanded Peter. During all His healing and deliverance of those tormented by demons, He commanded the demons directly. They obeyed His power and authority.

One key goal to remember is Jesus came to save life and not to destroy life. He came to give abundant life. He came to heal the sick and not to give sickness. He came to relieve the suffering of mankind and not to add to the suffering. By His death on the cross, having borne all the diseases and sins on His body, He defeated the power of sin and death. He broke all the curses on human.

Jesus knew exactly what He needed to do on earth, how long and how much. He did not go beyond what He saw His Father in heaven did. He set a clear demarcation between dealing with evil spirits and the human through which those spirits manifested. He was walking by the Spirit and living by the Spirit at all times.

Jesus has thus demonstrated to us the only correct way to use His power and authority as Son of God.

“For as many are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” Romans 8:14

Journey to see God: What Jesus wants of the patients

Jesus heals many
Jesus heals many; Jesus heals all

How did Jesus heal? What did He want of the patients? This is another key to divine health and wholeness living.

The key truth: Jesus clearly stated that He is the Physician who heals those who are sick and He is the God who has power on earth to forgive sins. (Luke 5:31-32) All who actually believed what Jesus said were healed.

Oftentimes He just preached and taught the multitudes and the power of the Lord was present to heal them! Luke 5:15

Here are some verses spoken by Jesus and they revealed the truth that set free!

_________Bible verses (NKJV) are taken from the Gospel According to Luke, chapters 4-6: describing the behavior, attitude, belief of the ‘patients’ who came to Jesus for healing.

4:32-33 a man with an unclean demon cried out in the presence of Jesus who was teaching, for His word was with authority. The man was listening to His word.

5:12 a man full of leprosy saw Jesus and fell on his face and spoke out his faith in Jesus’ power and authority to heal. He acknowledged his uncleanness and need of cleansing, saying “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”

5:15 great multitudes came together to hear Jesus’ teaching and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. They believed in the power of the word Jesus spoke to heal them.

5:25 a paralyzed man believed his sins were forgiven because Jesus said so, and obeyed the command of Jesus to rise up and take up his bed and walked back to his own house.

5:27-28 a sinner (tax collector) Levi was saved from his sins by obeying the command of Jesus to follow Him. He left all, rose up, and followed Him.

6:10 a man with a withered right hand believed in Jesus’ authority to override that of the synagogue authority (based on Moses Law), and obeyed Jesus’ command to stretch out his hand on Sabbath.

6:17-19 “great multitude of people came to hear Him and be healed of their diseases, as well as those tormented with unclean spirits. And they were all healed. And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out of Him and healed them all.”

The patients came, heard His word, believed the word, and even touched Him (encountered His power)! Power came out of Jesus as He preached the word. They believed and were healed!

journey to see God: Jesus’ word power

God's purposeful power word
God’s purposeful power word

The way Jesus dealt with healing and deliverance is the only way the disciples followed. Jesus promised this, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” Then He also promised that the Father will send the Holy Spirit in His name. “He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” (John 15:23, 26)

The key to disciples’ success in carrying out the supernatural mission that Jesus had started on earth, to preach the good news of the kingdom of God, to heal the sick, cast out demons and set the oppressed free, reconciling the Father in heaven with those who believe, bringing the supernatural rebirth by the Holy Spirit to mortal lives, thereby translating believers from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of marvelous light of the Son of God, transforming ordinary human being into sons of God…is the word of God, quickened by the Holy Spirit.

Our faith is based on the word of God. The word of God brings the presence of God. Here are some of the significant words (from the Gospel according to Luke: chapter 1-7) revealing the importance of words that Jesus spoke:

  1. His first statement to His earthly parents about His real heavenly Son-ship and priority in life: “Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” 2:49
  2. His first supernatural decree against the spiritual enemy’s earthly (natural) challenge: “It is written, Man shall not live bread alone, but by every word of God.” 4:4
  3. His first pronouncement to the synagogue (Jewish religious leaders and congregation): “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” 4:21
  4. His first authoritative command to demon: “Be quiet, and come out of him!” 4:35
  5. His first declaration of purpose to the crowd: “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.” 4:43
  6. His first command to the future apostle (Peter): “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5:4
  7. His first confirmation of His power and willingness to heal: “I am willing; be cleansed.” 5:13
  8. His first display of His authority as God’s Son to forgive sin: “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” 5:20
  9. His first revelation of His position above the Law, to those who challenged Him with the Law: “The Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.” 6:5
  10. His first praise was given to a man of faith in Him (His word): “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” 7:9 ( a centurion who had publicly declared his faith by asking Jesus to just say the word, and his servant would be healed!)

Summary: Jesus does not speak idle or empty word. Every word God speaks has purpose, authority and power. Every word is truth. Every word has substance. The minute He spoke it the word became life and spirit to those who received them. (John 6:63)

expose the battle in your mind and deal with it!

Spiritual AuthorityAlbumBy Andrew Wommack Please take a minute to read this letter I recently received from a 19-year-old girl.

Dear Mr. Wommack, I realize that you must receive frequent letters regarding your ministry. But even with that knowledge, I feel compelled to write. I’ve just finished listening to your audio series entitled “Spiritual Authority,” and it has changed my life.

When I was in junior high, I became involved in Wicca, or Paganism. For two- and-a-half years I toyed with the powers of Satan, calling on numerous demons to do my bidding. Not only was I demon possessed, but I was heavily into drugs and alcohol. A few months before I became a Christian, I began to realize that I was no longer in control. In fact, I was the one being controlled. My free will was so entangled with Satan’s deception that I lost the ability to think for myself.

On August 29, 1996, I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. At the moment I confessed my sin and gave my life to God, He delivered me from the demons, drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, and sexual relationships I was involved in. I thought I was rid of Satan’s power for good.

It wasn’t long before fear started to overcome me. The demons I once fellowshipped with tormented me day and night. I could see them in the corner of my room while I was trying to sleep. When I was outside at night, I could feel their presence. After a while, I began to cope with it, and it became an everyday part of my life. I knew they couldn’t touch me, but I was terrified nonetheless.

Almost four years after my conversion, I was still dealing with these demonic forces. It was only when I listened to your series that I understood the power and authority I have over them. Instead of literally hiding under my blankets at night for fear of the demon in the corner of my room, I smile, say a quick prayer of praise to God, and fall asleep.

Your illustration of how we sometimes picture demons was of particular interest to me. You say that we picture them as towering beasts with claws and such, when in reality they are sniveling, little things. That is so true! The only power they have is the power we give them. What a blessing to finally realize that! My outlook on life has totally changed, thanks to your willingness to be used of God. If it were not for the godly truths of your ministry, I would still be enslaved by my fear.

I am now actively pursuing the calling God placed on my life, a calling to ministry. I am excited and anxious for the future and the things that God will be able to accomplish through my obedience. My Christian walk is stronger than ever before, and my friends constantly ask what’s different about me. They don’t seem to grasp that a nineteen-year-old can be so in love with God that it’s physically evident.

Again I thank you for your willingness to step out in faith and be used of God. God, through you, has touched my life and, I’m sure, the lives of countless others. I’m looking forward to listening to your other teachings. Tori from PA

Isn’t that awesome! Praise the Lord for the power of the truth and how it sets us free (John 8:32). The only power that Satan has is the power of deception, and the worst thing about deception is that you don’t know you’re being deceived. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be deception. Once the truth is received, deception loses all its power. Therefore, Satan loses all his power when we know the truth.

Many people don’t know the truth about Satan’s defeat. In fact, many Christians are the very instrument the devil is using to foster the deception that he is still a powerful foe. “Spiritual warfare” is one of the hottest topics in the church today. People are expending great amounts of energy constantly battling the devil in ways contrary to Scripture, but in reality, Satan has already been defeated. We don’t need to defeat him again.

We need to believe that Satan has already been completely destroyed (Heb. 2:14) and simply enforce his defeat. The only power he has is the power to deceive. Our battle should be against the wiles (trickery) of the devil (Eph. 6:11), not the devil himself. Any other approach is actually giving the devil authority and power which he doesn’t have, and he uses that to intimidate us. The only weapon Satan has is the power we give him when we believe his lies.

Warfare only takes place between two undefeated foes. Once an enemy has been conquered, the war is over. Satan is a defeated foe.

Colossians 2:15 says, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” The archaic meaning of the word “spoiled” here is “to plunder; despoil” (American Heritage Dictionary). This means that after Jesus defeated Satan, He stripped him of everything he had, specifically the keys of death and hell (Rev. 1:18). Satan has no power to imprison anyone.

The Greek word that was translated “shew” in this verse (Col 2:15) is “deigmatizo” which means “to exhibit” (Strong). This comes from the root word “deigma” which means “a specimen (as shown)” (ibid.). Satan is like one of those bugs we had to capture for biology class. We caught it and then impaled it on a board with a little pin to exhibit it. You need to picture the devil nailed to the cross of Jesus like a bug on display. Hallelujah! Take that, Mr. Devil!

The Greek word that was translated “triumphing over” in Colossians 2:15 is especially significant. It means “to make an acclamatory procession” (ibid.). This is specifically referring to the way the Romans had a “triumphant procession” after they had defeated their enemies.

Upon conquering an enemy, the Romans would hold a parade. They would take the conquered king, strip him naked, and drag him through the crowd behind the conquering king or commander for all their subjects to see. He would be humiliated and insulted, but that’s not all. They would also cut off the thumbs of his hands and the big toes of both feet. This was to assure the subjects this enemy would never be a threat to any of them again. He could not hold a sword and he would never be able to run again. There was no need to fear him any more. Any rumor about him ever challenging Rome again would be scoffed at because the citizens had seen him in the parade.

The same thing happened to the devil. That’s what this verse is referring to. Jesus not only beat the devil, but He had a triumphant procession to display the devil to the universe as a totally conquered foe. Satan should never terrify us again. Unfortunately, many Christians have missed the parade. They haven’t seen God’s triumphant procession that was pictured in God’s Word where Satan was displayed as a totally defeated foe. They are circulating rumors that Satan is a powerful foe to be reckoned with. That’s not so.

Satan is still alive, and we do have to reckon with him but only because he has so many lies circulating about his power against us. These are all lies, and therein lies Satan’s power. If we believe his lies, he then uses our own authority, which our fear grants him, to work his destruction in our lives. He has no power of his own. He’s using the power and authority that our misdirected faith gives him.

When I was just beginning my walk with the Lord, I came into the knowledge that demons do exist, and they are not all in Africa. We encounter demons often, and they are the workers of much of the evil we see every day. At first, this caused a fear in me that actually gave these demons in-roads into my life. On one hand, I was resisting them, but through fear I was also empowering them.

An example of this happened to me in Arlington, Texas, where I grew up. I was in love with the Lord and wanting to minister to people. I decided to open up what I called “Arlington Christian Center.” It was going to be a home where people who were being controlled by things like alcohol, drugs, sex, etc. could come and stay while we broke the power of the devil over them and helped set them free. I rented a two-story house, right on the edge of the University of Texas at Arlington campus, and started fixing it up.

This house had been a fraternity house, and there had been a lot of demonic activity in the house prior to our occupancy. The people were gone, but not all the demons were. There were some strange things about that place. One night I was working up there at 1 a.m., and some demons attacked me. There was no one in that house except me, but I was being hit and choked, and I was fighting for my life.

I ran out of that house and got in my car and backed out of the driveway. I was ready to “burn rubber” and get as far away from there as possible. Just before I got the car into drive, I heard the Lord say to me, “What are you doing?” I told Him I was getting away from that place as fast as I could. He then reminded me of the Christian’s armor that was described in Ephesians 6:10-18, and He said, “There isn’t any armor to cover your back.”

I knew what He meant. He was saying that the armor He had given me only worked when I faced the devil, not if I turned and ran. I thought, Lord, You couldn’t want me to go back into that place and face those devils. He never said anything else to me. I pulled back into the driveway and thought about that for what seemed to be an eternity. Finally, I got out of the car and walked back into that house. I spent the rest of the night fighting off fear and those physical attacks of the devil. When I left in the morning, the demons were gone, and there was a supernatural peace in that place.

During that time, I had a lot of demonic attacks against me. I had dreams where demons would attack me, and I would wake up bleeding from those encounters. They weren’t just in my mind. I was being physically attacked. That also happened one night in Louisiana at a Bible conference. It felt like I was being choked to death. I won, but these demonic encounters were not fun.

Then one day as I was praying and binding every demon on every continent, it dawned on my lightning-fast mind that I was actually spending more time in my prayers talking to the devil and rebuking him than I was talking to the Lord. I knew that wasn’t right. The Lord began to reveal to me that all my attention on the devil was actually giving him these in-roads into my life, which caused all these attacks.

I repented and changed my thinking and focus and guess what? It’s now been at least thirty years, and I have never had another demonic manifestation in my life. I have seen demons manifest around me in other people, and I’ve cast them out, but those personal attacks stopped nearly instantly. There has never been another one because the only reason Satan’s imps were able to manifest like that to me in the first place was because of the fear I released toward them. The fear is gone, and therefore, so is their power.

This is an awesome revelation and one that is not the dominant theological position on Satan and demons today. This truth desperately needs to be communicated throughout the body of Christ.

Journey to see God: See how Jesus deals with illness and demons

isaiah-53-5 black

Jesus’ way of healing is straightforward and simple, yet full of authority and power. He is the Son of God. The Son of God has manifested on earth with the purpose of destroying the works of the devil (1 John 3:8b). Jesus indeed did just that.

Even a Roman centurion had greater faith in the authority and power of Jesus than the Jewish leaders and disciples then. The Roman proclaimed to Jesus a history making statement of faith in Matthews 8:8, “But only speak a word and my servant will be healed.”

Jesus praised this faith, “I have not seen such great faith, not even in Israel.” (Matt. 8:10) In today’s church environment this statement can be rephrased to say, “I have not seen such great faith, not even in the church.”

So today’s assignment for all churches who cannot match the faith of the Roman centurion to read Jesus’ healing ministry throughout the gospels and that of the Apostles and disciples in the typical church history (summarized as a pattern for all churches to follow) as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles.

See God, see His Son’s healing and deliverance ministry and the power and authority which was evident to those who believed.

Jesus reprimanded the disciples: “Why are you so fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a calm. (Matt. 8:26)

James aptly warned the believers that a man who doubts is a double-minded man and let not he suppose he will receive anything from the Lord. “Let him ask in faith with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.” (James 1:6-8)

Use your faith and word key. Don’t waste it.

My real life: the first battle in the ‘mindfield’

and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free
and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free

The mindfield which is in the unseen realm is much much more perilous and deadly than the minefield in human physical realm. The mindman has discovered.

Why? In the physical realm everything physical however tightly concealed will be uncovered. Nothing hidden will not be revealed. There is nowhere to hide, really. How can you hide darkness? You cannot. How can you hide death? You cannot. Foul rotten smell of death will soon seep through the layers of covers and permeate the air that you breathe.

How can you hide light? You cannot. Light seeps through every crevice and swallows up everything dark. But the mind can stop light and hide darkness for a time. It has become the ‘nurture bed’ for spiritual attack (in the forms of mental/emotional/mood illnesses or dysfunctions).

As long as the mindfield is filled with dark thoughts, lies and deceptions from the spiritual enemy, human (flesh and blood) is no match to them. No human ways in healing can heal the mind and restore it to complete wellness as it has been originally designed by the supernatural Creator God.

How to become more than conquerors in the mindfield battle?

The mindman has discovered the truth from the Word of God, which is the Power of God. The winning factor in the mindfield battle is ‘POWER’. Whose power? God’s power.

Belief in God and the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who is the Word of God gives us the power to overcome even the mind battle. How did Jesus Himself cast out demons and heal the sick (including those tormented in their minds)? By speaking God’s words as the Son of God. Today we are called to be sons of God. We have the authority to speak His words and do exactly as He did.

Firstly we must know the good gifts that God has given freely to all: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and  and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning” James 1:17.  “Who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” Ephesians 1:3.

  1. Who qualifies to receive the good and perfect gifts (including the power to overcome)? Those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:2 “But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
  2. What are the power gifts for the mindfield battle? “that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge” 1 Corinthians 1:5. “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us  wisdom from God-and righteousness and sanctification and redemption-” 1 Corinthians1:30. “But we have the mind of Christ” 2:16.
  3. Why does God want to give you such good gifts? God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. “so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,” 1:7

Secondly we must know and believe how this great power of God in us work and how may we know.

  1. “For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power. 1Corinthians 4:20
  2. “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places…” Ephesians 1:17-20 “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” Ephesians 3:20
  3. “Now we have received…the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 1 Corinthians 2:12 “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him“1 Corinthians 6:17.
  4. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” Romans 8:14.
  5. “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil” 1 John 3:8b.
  6. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faithWho is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”  1 John 5:4-5

In practice, the battle is won through reading the whole Bible, meditating on the words of God, speaking and praying the words, and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth, just as Jesus has commanded and promised. One caution word: read whole Bible and not be deceived by evil spirit using verses out of context.

The Holy Spirit is always ahead and has warned the watchman many times without fail beforehand to be alert and discerning in the spiritual realm where the real battle is. (Ephesians 6:12; 2 Corinthians 10:3)

Indeed, Jesus’ advice that we watch and pray means we watch our mind and pray in the Spirit (one spirit with the Lord) and in His words.

Action today for those who believe:

Pray through the Bible. For example, take the first chapter of 1 Corinthians and pray, asking for those good and prefect gifts from God to manifest in you.

Living by the Spirit: reality check list

Living by the Spirit
Living by the Spirit

Today we do a check list. Do we fit into the following God’s words? Do your own checking. All these words were spoken by Jesus, who Himself was the Word who became flesh and came and fulfill God’s words.

  1. born of water and the Spirit. John 3:5
  2. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:24
  3. It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63
  4. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. John 7:38 (by this He spoke concerning the Spirit. 7:39)
  5. I speak to the world those things which I heard from Him (the Father in heaven); I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things; and He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him. John 8:26-29 The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. John 14:10
  6. If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31-32
  7. be My disciples: deny yourself, take up your cross daily and follow Me. Luke 9:23-25
  8. Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him. Luke 8:18 My mother and My brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it. Luke 8:21
  9. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. John 15:7
  10. …how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him? Luke 11:13b
  11. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19
  12. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever-the Spirit of truth. He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things I said to you. He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. John 14:12-26; 16:12-15

Here are some of the testimonies of the Apostles themselves:

John’s witness:

  1. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:17
  2. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 1 John 2:20 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you…and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. 2:27 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 4:13 For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 3:8b

Paul’s witness:

  1. No one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. We have received the Spirit who is from God that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. We have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:9-16
  2. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 8:14 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. 8:16 Now he who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know all things work together for good to those who love God , to those who are the called according to His purpose. 8:27-28

James’ witness:

  1. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth…therefore..receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:17-18, 21-22
  2. Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray…Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders…and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. James 5:13-15

Peter’s witness:

  1. You have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit…having been born again, not of corruptible seed bu incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever. 1 Peter 1:22-23
  2. To those who have received like precious faith with us…grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness…that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Peter 1:1-4

Jude’s witness:

  1.  Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. Jude 3
  2. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, Jude 20

Jesus’ witness: Revelation 22:7

“Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

today’s prayers: open your eyes to receive spiritual power

john-1246-jesus-light-of-the-worldTwo prayers: ask for spiritual eyes to open and receive spiritual strength!

Ephesians 1:15-23

Prayer one: the eyes of your hearts be opened and enlightened

15 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, 16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Ephesians 3:14-21

Prayer two: to receive Spiritual Strength, filled with God!

14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Today’s word: Prayer and thanksgiving

prayer and thanksgiving
prayer and thanksgiving Psalm 9
Prayer and Thanksgiving for the Lord’s Righteous Judgments
To the Chief Musician.
To the tune of “Death of the Son.” A Psalm of David.

I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart;
I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in You;
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.

When my enemies turn back,
They shall fall and perish at Your presence.
For You have maintained my right and my cause;
You sat on the throne judging in righteousness.
You have rebuked the nations,
You have destroyed the wicked;
You have blotted out their name forever and ever.

O enemy, destructions are finished forever!
And you have destroyed cities;
Even their memory has perished.
But the Lord shall endure forever;
He has prepared His throne for judgment.
He shall judge the world in righteousness,
And He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness.

The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed,
A refuge in times of trouble.
10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.

11 Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion!
Declare His deeds among the people.
12 When He avenges blood, He remembers them;
He does not forget the cry of the humble.

13 Have mercy on me, O Lord!
Consider my trouble from those who hate me,
You who lift me up from the gates of death,
14 That I may tell of all Your praise
In the gates of the daughter of Zion.
I will rejoice in Your salvation.

15 The nations have sunk down in the pit which they made;
In the net which they hid, their own foot is caught.
16 The Lord is known by the judgment He executes;
The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands.

Meditation. Selah

17 The wicked shall be turned into hell,
And all the nations that forget God.
18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten;
The expectation of the poor shall not perish forever.

19 Arise, O Lord,
Do not let man prevail;
Let the nations be judged in Your sight.
20 Put them in fear, O Lord,
That the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah

Psalm 10

A Song of Confidence in God’s Triumph over Evil

10 Why do You stand afar off, O Lord?
Why do You hide in times of trouble?
The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor;
Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.

For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire;
He blesses the greedy and renounces the Lord.
The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God;
God is in none of his thoughts.

His ways are always prospering;
Your judgments are far above, out of his sight;
As for all his enemies, he sneers at them.
He has said in his heart, “I shall not be moved;
I shall never be in adversity.”
His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression;
Under his tongue is trouble and iniquity.

He sits in the lurking places of the villages;
In the secret places he murders the innocent;
His eyes are secretly fixed on the helpless.
He lies in wait secretly, as a lion in his den;
He lies in wait to catch the poor;
He catches the poor when he draws him into his net.
10 So he crouches, he lies low,
That the helpless may fall by his strength.
11 He has said in his heart,
“God has forgotten;
He hides His face;
He will never see.”

12 Arise, O Lord!
O God, lift up Your hand!
Do not forget the humble.
13 Why do the wicked renounce God?
He has said in his heart,
“You will not require an account.

14 But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief,
To repay it by Your hand.
The helpless commits himself to You;
You are the helper of the fatherless.
15 Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man;
Seek out his wickedness until You find none.

16 The Lord is King forever and ever;
The nations have perished out of His land.
17 Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble;
You will prepare their heart;
You will cause Your ear to hear,
18 To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,
That the man of the earth may oppress no more.

5 am lesson: God’s good pleasure is to give (2)

Holy Spirit pours from heaven
Holy Spirit pours from heaven

Seeing God, whose good pleasure is to give (part 2)

The one experience that a born again believer in Jesus Christ enjoys most is the exceeding greatness of the love of God poured down from heaven like an avalanche beyond all descriptions. It is like that when we grasp the true meaning of Chapter One, in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians.

The 5 am brethren (brothers and sisters in Christ) daily encountered this good news when they continued to read the words of God by faith and submit to the leading of the Lord Holy Spirit. The brethren concluded that God is indeed Love. His Son Jesus is Love. Why? Because they saw how God took the bother with us humans. God even took pleasure in formulating His will and plan to carry out to ensure us receiving what He has purposed and has given in Chris Jesus, His Son.  Here are some excerpts of what the members received.

Third Day:  They read Ephesians chapter one together and meditated on the words and phrases. They also were led to read 1 Corinthians 2:7-16. Prior to this the watchman received relevant verses from John 17, to which the brethren referred to as led by the Lord.

Some of the understandings of the verses are as follows (not in any sequential order): (Bible versions used: KJV and NKJV) (NKJV used is from the ‘Spirit Filled Life Bible’, from which some of the explanations are taken).

1:3 God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. The ‘heavenly places’ refer to the invisible realm that surrounds our present daily situation, the arena or sphere of spiritual action and activity. The blessings have been given and is a done deal in Christ Jesus. We on our part need to reach out, receive and use them by faith. One requirement is that we walk by faith and not by sight. We live (are guided) by the Spirit and not by the flesh (our body, mind and emotion), trusting in God’s words and not man’s words.

Our only channel of blessing is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are ‘in Christ’. Our Lord Jesus Christ has resurrected and ascended into heaven. As He has promised His disciples, after His ascension, the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of Christ) came and poured on them on Pentecost Day.

(NB: Pentecost Day falls on 15th-16th May sundown to sundown in Jewish calendar, and 19th May this year in Our calendar.)

1:13, 17 The Holy Spirit is the Sealer, authorizing the believer to represent Christ; the Revealer, enlightening the hearts to perceive God’s purpose.

The Holy Spirit is our seal and guarantee for our true identify as children of God.

17-19 The Holy Spirit gives and reveals to us the knowledge of God: the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of being His saints, the exceeding greatness of His power towards us who believe.

The Holy Spirit is God, manifesting the power of God. Paul spoke of this in greater detail in 1 Corinthians 2.

2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you…declaring unto you the testimony of God.

2:4 And my speech and my preaching…in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.

2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory.

2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit...

2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ. (John 15:15; 14:16-17; 16:13-15; 14:26)

Ephesians 1:19-23 The Holy Spirit reveals to us the working of God’s mighty power in Christ.

20 The power wrought in Christ, raised Him from the dead, and set Him at God’s right hand in the heavnely places.

21 Christ is far above all “Principality and power and might and dominion” which are terms used for ruling authorities in the invisible realm. It describes an invisible hierarchy of evil powers who deceive and manipulate human behavior, advancing Satanic strategies. Christ Himself and all who are in Christ are shown to be placed in authority above these powers, an authority that only spiritual warfare can assert, demonstrate, and sustain (6:12). Indeed, Christ’s supremacy is unrestricted restricted by any authority or power in this world or that which is to come. Imagine this same power now works in His believers! (Eph. 1:19-20)

22-23 His body, the church: The body of Christ represents Christ on earth. The church is to be filled with Him by the Holy Spirit. The disciples are commanded by Christ Jesus to do the works He did and even greater works. The unequal authority of Jesus (the name He has given them to use), and the immense power of the Holy Spirit, which quickens the words of God, are more than sufficient resources for those who are in Christ to live a victorious abundant life in this world.

Here are some further Bible verses to meditate upon:

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” (Ephesians 1:17 “…in the knowledge of Him.”)

Colossians 1:9-11 “…pray for you…that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power…”

a watchman’s blogging community and the faceless ones

a watchman's community -the faceless ones
a watchman’s community -the faceless ones

The watchman tried to figure out how visitors to this blog may be included to appear in the community list (which limits to 50 only). He experimented a number of combinations (the likers, followers and commenters). The collection of ‘community’ reflect only those who participated in clicking the ‘like’, ‘be ‘followers’, or ‘comment’. His conclusion so far is he still does not know how it works, because not all who participated are in the ‘community’ list published. His prayer for all is not to be deterred by the web site’s programming over which the watchman has no control. He appreciates your visit and does notice the regulars and visits their sites even though he does not comment much.

One thing he regrets to note is that the web site does not provide the picture of the frequent visitors from outside. However he also notes that the majority of the visitors are from all over the world and thus remain anonymous and faceless.

In his journey in the Holy Spirit, he has encountered a number of faceless believers and disciples of Jesus. They are the rubber tappers, vegetables sellers, corner provision shop keepers, fish mongers, road side cafe operators, cab drivers, clerks, book keepers, electricians, construction supervisors, plumbers…and so on. The list is the everyday people list. These are the people who have encountered God in their ordinary lives.

Some are Spirit-filled the moment they believed and accepted Christ Jesus as their Savior and Lord. A rubber tapper can command her migraine to leave her the day after her baptism. A vegetable seller can finish reading the whole Bible six times within a year of her salvation and miraculous full recovery from a seemingly hopeless and helpless bedridden condition. A housewife (grandma) has her sight fully restored after praying for four and half months (after she heard and believed that Jesus heals).

A new convert kindergarten nanny (widow mother of two grown up working children) after receiving salvation read the first three books of Old Testament and half way through the book of Matthew in the New Testament within ten days after her conversion to Christ Jesus from idolatry practice! She explained that due to her eyesight limitation she did not manage to read much!! (The confession made the watchman and those who heard this marvel at the transformation power of the Lord).

The miraculous list is endless, as the Kingdom of God continues to advance, and as disciples continue to obey the Lord Jesus and do what He has commanded His followers to do, led by the Holy Spirit and God’s words.

5 am lesson: And do you seek great things for yourself?

The low rumbling (sound like distant engine or thunder) sound had been on lately in the afternoon for hours. No lightning. No rain except bits of drizzles. The sky was like filthy rag. Something is changing in the heavenly realm. The watchman was alerted by another to intercede in the Spirit for an hour at least, preferably singing in the Spirit to get into the spiritual realm. Indeed, after he obeyed he knew what to pray for after about half way through. It was urgent and important. Someone important in the country he was in right now needed the prayer. The term that came to him after he finished praying was “David and Goliath”.

Today the message for the servant (watchman) is “And do you seek great things for yourself?” The watchman has been praying about the future (what, where, when, and how?) The prayer is essential because of the prophecy about changes ahead and the shift to cross over from one realm to another realm. Nothing of the old can be used anymore. No old wine skin. No old wine. None of the old pattern will be of any use. He was asked three times to read the testimony of a man of faith a century ago who let go everything except one dollar (when he started out in obedience to the Lord). When the watchman was asked to let someone else read the book he was led to carry with him on a short trip, he was reminded in his spirit to find the even bigger and much thicker (in fact complete collection) book he has also about that man!

Not only the thick book, he was led to take out two other books. One is written by a prophet about time and the other was written by a person who visited heaven and hell and back. He was given the assignment to read all and finish watching three sets of DVDs (each containing several real life testimonies) of divine healing that happened today, all in one week.

Then this morning he received the exact answer to his prayer. The short chapter of Jeremiah, chapter 45. The message is clear: look at the unseen, watchman and not the seen. Be led by the Spirit of the Lord. By flesh it is impossible to accomplish the assignment. By the Holy Spirit nothing is impossible. (Zech4:6)

O watchman/scribe, This is not the time to seek great things or anything for yourself. Seek God. His will be done on earth as it is in heaven!

Jeremiah (NKJV) 45 Assurance to Baruch (with whom the watchman identifies as one things he has been doing is recording ‘messages’ and ‘signs’, like Baruch did).

45 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the instruction of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying, Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to you, O Baruch: ‘You said, “Woe is me now! For the Lord has added grief to my sorrow. I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.”’

“Thus you shall say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Behold, what I have built I will break down, and what I have planted I will pluck up, that is, this whole land. And do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I will bring adversity on all flesh,” says the Lord. “But I will give your life to you as a prize in all places, wherever you go.”’”

The above message is confirmed by another New Testament message which he was led to read after he prayed in response:

2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 5:16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

2 Corinthians 5:5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
For we walk by faith, not by sight.

5 am lesson: Keys to Kingdom living in courage and power

light overcomes darkness
light overcomes darkness

Jesus the Son of God had demonstrated to His disciples (and all believers who want to be His disciples) how to walk in the mighty power of God. Jesus told us plainly that no one had seen God except Him. When one sees Jesus one sees God. So His mission on earth was to show us how God is like. God is Almighty. He walks in supreme power. Jesus also walked in supreme majesty and power. Power came out of Him when patients touched Him (His clothes) by faith and they became healed immediately. Demons submitted themselves to Jesus voluntarily.

Jesus told His disciples that all who believe will do the same things that He did and even greater things. To Jesus being like Him (in word and deed) is a natural thing. Those born of God’s Spirit are spirit and have been given all things pertaining to life and godliness. All that God has given to Jesus He has given to those who believe in Jesus. Like Father like Son (and sons). So why are we not seeing this supernatural and transformational change in many of us? The distinct manifestation of the Son of God in us?

Today’s message for the 5am class is: the key to living and walking in His power. The key is in Jesus. Thus we are on the right track when we continue to read the word of God revealing Jesus to us.

Jesus has revealed two of His secrets to success:

Success Key one: Walking in the Light.

He announced that He was the true Light that gives light to every man in the world. (John 1:9) He commanded His disciples to take heed that the light which is in them is not darkness. (Luke 11:33-36) He warned them of the dark forces behind the hypocrites -namely Pharisees, scribes and lawyers (symbol of religiosity in appearances and not in truth and motives; in flesh and not in spirit) of that generation which He called evil and perverse. (Luke 11:37-54; Matt.15:1-20; 16:1-6)

What is the spirit behind the hypocrites? The spirit of the world. They were blinded and dull and hardened with worldly philosophy (which runs on natural laws). They just could not see or understand the supernatural laws that Jesus had demonstrated in reality. God is supernatural. No man can possibly understand the matters of God without Jesus. But their jealousies and covetousness (which is idolatry) had hardened them further, even to the point they were willing to perish forever.

Jesus summed up their depraved condition: “Men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. But everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.” (John 3:19-20)

Jesus Himself was undeterred by such dark hatred and opposition. He continued to walk and operate in the Light of God. He manifested God’s Light.

But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in Go.” (John 3:21) Only those who do the truth can come in the Light of God and the deeds are done in God! Nothing can be more powerful than deeds done in God! This is the success key of Jesus -doing everything in God’s Light, that is, in God. God is Light and in Him is no darkness at all. (1 John 1:5)

What does this mean to those who want to have this success key? The answer is in 1 John 1:6-10. (Read the whole passage and meditate and pray)

1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

Success Key two: Walking in understanding of the matters of God.

One thing that Jesus repeatedly told off His disciples was their not understanding what He told them about the matters of God, that is, the Kingdom of God.

He demonstrated how the Son of God has the power over natural matters: walking on water, calming the wind and sea, multiplying (without limit) food stuff out of the unseen resources in heaven, making demons (evil spirits) tremble and submit to Him, commanding (by mere words) physical things to happen (healing, deliverance, giving life back to the dead etc.). Power was evident in Him. Even King Harod admitted. Sick people touched the hem of His garment and were made well.

Why did the disciples not use this power when they were alone? They just could not understand the supernatural matters, the matters of God’s Kingdom then. The key word is ‘understanding’.

That is why Jesus spent a lot of time teaching them and all who followed Him at that time about the Kingdom of God and how it operates. Jesus was very clear about the way it functions. He is from above and He has seen how it operates in the supernatural realm. He knows it is real.

When Jesus sent out his disciples two by two to preach the Gospel, calling for repentance, healing the sick, casting out demons, saying the Kingdom of God was near, He gave them the power of God through His word. He instructed them by word and His word came to pass. They merely obeyed and witnessed that indeed what Jesus had spoken came true.

After Jesus ascended into heaven the disciples continued to obey and waited for the power from above, the Holy Spirit. Indeed the power came as told. After they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit their spiritual eyes were opened and they had spiritual understanding of the whole Kingdom of God message. They were transformed from a bunch of fearful humans to overcomers (as in Revelation 12:11).

Today, how do believers receive such supernatural understanding of the kingdom of God?

GUIDE ONE: ASK!(Luke 11:9-13)

11:9 Ask, seek, knock

11:13 how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!

GUIDE TWO: PRAY! (Ephesians 1:17-23)

17 pray for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God

18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened

19 know the greatness of His power toward those who believe

20-23 know the power in Christ. He is our head. We are His body! We can be filled with His fullness!
