Last Sunday I heard the live testimony of a pastor who has recently returned from her three years’ mission in a “hardened” oriental place, where people love to get married in pretty churches (buildings) but don’t want Jesus. Depression and suicidal rates are high. I ponder on these questions: Does hope have a name? What does love look like? Yesterday I watched several mission documentary videos and am impacted by the power of God’s love in the hearts of these missionaries. It may have sounded impossible to many. Yet, by fixing their eyes on the One that matters, it works for the missionaries. Behold! They fixed their eyes on One!

Video Two NIFENTO – New Heidi Baker Documentary Premiered Nov 12, 2022 NIFENTO (“LOVE” in the Mozambican language Makua.) Iris Global
Quoted from the description underneath the video:
“Heidi Baker, co-founder of Iris Global, has been living in Mozambique, Africa for over twenty-five years. Since 2017 her home province has been overcome by war. When Heidi’s friends and family shared their concerns for her safety, asking her to consider leaving, Heidi’s response has always been, ”Why should I leave behind the ones I’ve raised and disciplined; those I love? They can’t leave, so why should I?” “
“Filmed by two missionaries, James and Jessica Brewer, NIFENTO is a film that showcases the grim reality of war and terrorism in northern Mozambique. It features stories from families who are experiencing it firsthand and the response of Iris Global who is working hand in hand with the local church. “
“Striving to be the hands and feet of Jesus in one of the poorest nations in the world, Heidi and her team have faced cyclones, floods, famines, extreme poverty, and now terrorism. The conflict has ravaged the region resulting in over 800,000 people fleeing from their homes and becoming internally displaced.”
Video three: Hope Has A Name (2017) | Full Movie | Heidi Baker | Mary Lanier | Amy Lancaster | Deena Van’t Hul
Nov 10, 2020 “An inspiring documentary film about ordinary women bringing extraordinary hope in unlikely places. In urban America, the bush of Africa, the war zone of the Congo, and in closed nations there are women who are living outside their own cultures, society, and comfort level to care for orphans, build schools, liberate addicts, feed the poor, and love the broken. These ordinary women are reaching into hopeless situations of people and creating hope. A few of these women have names you may recognize, while many are mostly unknown. Heidi Baker, Amy Lancaster, Deena Van’t Hul, Jessica Goodman, and Cassandra Lee take you on a candid and intimate journey into their worlds and lives as they make hope come alive—and with it the belief that we can all do something.” (Vision Video)
Video four: Mama Heidi (2004) | Full Movie | Heidi Baker | Rolland Baker (Vision Video Nov 17, 2020)
“If you ever wondered if caring people can make a difference in this world, then be sure to see this program. In 1994, Heidi and Rolland Baker arrive in Mozambique amidst the hard times following the Mozambique Civil War. Even the Red Cross trucks were not safe and were bombed. Before coming to Mozambique, Heidi and Rolland worked as missionaries in Indonesia and China. After hearing about the conditions in Mozambique, they decided to go there and work with the poorest of the poor. They make a difference by adopting a dilapidated orphanage. The children had all kinds of diseases and sometimes even ate rats to survive. Heidi and Rolland began caring for the children, educating and feeding them. During the hard times, sometimes even threatened by death, Heidi and Rolland experienced amazing miracles of healing for the blind, crippled and those afflicted with AIDS. Currently, Heidi and Rolland provide three residential orphanages and schools, caring for 700 children. Hundreds more are cared for by many of their thousands of pastors. The Bakers serve the most forgotten, including street children, prostitutes, the imprisoned and those surviving off a huge city dump. This documentary shows how Heidi and Rolland are a powerful inspiration for many in Mozambique, Africa and around the world.”
Video five: Heidi Baker’s Simple Secret to Overcoming Evil: ‘Fix Your Eyes on Jesus’ Feb 13, 2023 CBN
“In 1980, Iris Global Ministries started with just two people: Heidi and Rolland Baker. Today it encompasses more than 2,000 missionaries, staff and volunteers. They work in 73 ministry centers in 37 nations, bringing help and hope to the poorest of the poor. In some of those areas, especially in Africa, persecution and life-threatening dangers are on the rise. CBN News spoke with Heidi Baker to talk about her ministry, and her new devotional book, God’s Got This, about how Christians can draw their strength from God during life’s hardships.”
“The world is shaking,” Baker told The Prayer Link. “Every single person on the planet has gone through something hard, something challenging, something painful. But how do we see it through the lens of the power of God, the love of God. And how do we as believers comfort one another.”

Some of Heidi Baker’s quotes
“As our hearts become pure, our vision becomes clearer.”
“When we are compelled by love, when we embrace the life of the Beatitudes, we are truly blessed. Truly we are filled with inexpressible joy knowing we dwell in the shelter of the Most High God. We rest in the shadow of the Almighty. He is our refuge and our fortress; we put our trust in Him. He covers us with His wings of love, and we find safety in Him.”
“A minister is simply a sent one. You might only be sent across the street, but it does not matter. To God, whether it is to one or the masses, it is the same—it is love incarnate.”
― Heidi Baker, Compelled By Love: How to Change the World Through the Simple Power of Love in Action
“It is when you become immersed in the love of the Father that you truly begin to love like Jesus. He wants to immerse you. He wants to hold you. He wants to take you to a place where you are so far over your head in the river of God that miracles happen all around you. He wants to fill you entirely with His Holy Spirit.”
“We too must realize that developing a life in God’s presence above all else is the only way to fulfill our God-given destinies. Keys to our callings are released when we spend time there. We must always run to Him in the secret place to find the true source of life. What’s more, when we spend time in the secret place, our passion and hunger for Jesus grow. It is only as we abide in His presence that the most precious treasures can be born. This is much better than work! More is accomplished by spending time in God’s presence than by doing anything else.”
“No can be an anointed word. We cannot be saviors to all. We are servants, daughters, sons, and brides, but not saviors. There is only one Savior. We cannot have His job. We are called and allowed to rest. God is able to keep His world going, and in the meantime it is very important we do not do more than He is asking.”
